Aimee's experience

I saw Cats twice in one month at the beginning of this year, which was a real surprise as my mother always told me that if it ever came she wasn't going to sit through it. No, she didn't sit through it once, she sat through it twice, and came out liking it atleast a little.

First Time:

The first time we saw it was in January. We had allright seats, alley 2, tear 2, row 2, and two seats from the aisle. Ohyeah, I should mention that because I live in Australia, we saw Cats in a first ever big top tent. It was really cool. Anyway, the music starts playing, and I'm jumping up and down like a mad fool, and my mum's getting really angry, and kept hitting me and telling me to stop it. I was sooooo Excited!!!!

The interval came, and the cats came into the audience. The character of Admetus came out, and stole one man's ice cream. It was soooo funny!!!! Victoria came right near us. She was so cute. Then the music came back on again, and Old Deutoronomy started singing Moments of Happiness I cried a little then, but in Memory, I looked over at mum, and she was crying. I laughed at her, because she said she wasn't.

Then the night ended, and we reluctantly went home, although I just wanted to stand around the tent all night and look at it. Mum said it was getting cold and we had to get home because it was late.

I should also mention that the first time, I was coming down with a bad cold, brand new shoes that gave me huge blisters, I had just gotten the start of my braces, and I was on the worlds WORST diet. I was still the mad fool I was though. This was, evidently, nothing compared to my second exerience.....

Second Time:

After about a week of pleading and begging, mum decided that we should go again. She rang up, and asked for particular seats. We were told over the phone we couldn't get aisle seats, but I said that was allright as long as we got good seats.

The second time was in February, exactly four weeks after we saw Cats the first time. We went in and had dinner first, and I almost killed myself then and there. I swear to god, on the table opposite us, there was two characters from the musical, and one backstage person. Unfortunately, mum wouldn't let me get the program the second time, but I'm sitting there saying, 'that's them, that's them, they're in Cats.' When I got home and looked it up, it turned out that Quaxo and Electra were sitting opposite us. I died when I found out.

Anyway, we get into the tent, and this guy leads us to our seats. We get in there, and he leads us straight to two aisleseats. I nearly fainted. My mum asked the guy if we were in the wrong spot and he said, 'no, these are your seats.' I was screaming on the inside, and shaking and crying on the outside.

The music starts playing, and mum was jumping up and down too. Where we sat, not many cats came up to us. Prettym much the only ones that did were Rum Tum Tugger, after his song, Jennyanydots and Bustopher Jones, Admetus, during
the intermission, Victoria, during the intermission, and I think it was Skimbleshanks during 'The Naming of Cats.'

In the intermission, our night made it into the daily paper. That night, there was torrential rain, and the tent nearly got flooded. The intermission went for 45 minutes while they decided whether or not the show would go on. I'm practically crying, and praying that it wouldn't be cancelled. The cats came into the audience and entertained us for that part anyway. Admetus came and sat on my foot. It really hurt!!!! I didn't mind though.

So, the show finally went on. It was cool, the rain was really loud though. Anyway, the next best thing, and perhaps the greatest thing ever to have happened to me, came at the end. The cats run out into the audience, and Tugger came up to where we were sitting. I was like shaking, he came up to me, and winked. Mum was like shaking me and saying, 'Tugger winked at you.' I'm saying, 'Yeah, I know.' She still hasn't lived that down.

And that's my Cats experience. Sorry it was so long, but that's it. I now have both the single and double albums of the Original London Cast, as well as the video. Last year I travelled to Japan, where it was also on, and I got a badge, Cats balloon, and heaps of posters in Japanese. I can't read half of them, but it's cool anyway. Thank you for reading.
