Macavity, is a villainous cat, he is very smart and mystical, he may have some magic as Mistoffelees because he can escape from the scene of crime every time without being caught.
His costume is red and black, his make up is a little bit scaring. He has some henchmen who work for him, their costumes are black and they wear a mask.
Macavity seems able to hypnotise others, he hypnotises Jellicles while he attempts to kidnap Old Deuteronomy, that's why no one comes to stop the kidnapping.
There are 2 people playing Macavity in Cats, one comes out to scare the Jellicles before the other who disguises as Old Deuteronomy shows up. But we suppose the later one to be the real Macavity, because he fights with Munkustrap. The reason why there are two Macavity is to show that Macavity is powerful, he can come from one place to another immediately. (Remember the lyrics of the song "Macavity"? - His powers of levitation would make a fakir stare) So, you can see when Macavity who disguises as Old Deuteronomy returns, the other who plays the "false Macavity" can also be seen in the left hand side of the stage.
Many people think there is something between him and Demeter, but I think there is Not! Demeter and Bombalurina sing about Macavity after Old Deuteronomy being kidnapped, they seem very sexy during the singing, especially Bombalurina, they know Macavity very well.
Macavity is dubbed as "The Hidden Paw" and "The Napoleon of Crime".
